Although their personalities are often not as well-defined as those of some non-playable characters in the game, many of them are (very nicely) voiced, and they all contribute to the plot and interact with each other. and that's where the story properly takes off.Īs they journey through Arcanum, the player can join up with a number of companions. Immediately after the gnome succumbs to his wounds, the player character emerges from the rubble and is approached by a man named Virgil, who claims to have found the reincarnation of a long lost prophet. There's only one survivor, the player character - and, as they crawl out of the wreckage, a dying gnome begs them to take his ring to "the boy". Within moments, the vessel goes down in flames. Sadly, nothing good can last forever - and, out of the blue, the airship is attacked by a pair of ogres flying primitive fighter planes. Aboard, the cream of high society enjoys the flight, playing chess, sipping fine wine, etc. The IFS Zephyr has just begun her maiden voyage, a marvelous, high-society venture through the clouds. The game retains a cult following similar to its cousin Fallout, and is additionally often very favorably compared to Baldur's Gate II and Planescape: Torment, although Arcanum's detail focuses more on its setting's history and mechanisms than on its playable characters.
It contains a very detailed setting and a well-designed scenario, as well as vast amounts of political backstory in the game's libraries, newspapers, and legends. Much of Arcanum deals with Item Crafting and character building - many of the items in the game can be used to build other items. This tool was coded in C#.Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura is an expansive and very open-ended Role-Playing Game where Tolkienian High Fantasy meets Vernian Steampunk, courtesy of the designers behind the first two Fallout games. Please note that I have not taken the most amount of time to gather all the proper custom colors for these. Bellow are some pixel arts ingame I have created using this tool. This command I setup only works in singleplayer as it will also work in multiplayer but I rather not have people going around pasting huge pixel arts on huge major servers. I know the program has a rotation feature, but after you crafted the schematic and later wish to upload at a different orientation, you can. Yes, it's insanely fast to cover an entire world in walls and paint them haha why? good coding? who knows! The command I created was /schem (Rotation). The upload takes around ~0.3 seconds to complete.
After the saving of the schematic you can upload it while IN-GAME via a command. For my instance of my mod, I decided to have the game store/read the data for these schematics inside a folder named #Schematics within the games main directory. This will re-generate the pixelart using the defined settings and save the schematic to a file.
For once you have the schematic you want to import to the game, you can either click convert and use the schematic viewers text and paste it in a notepad or use the save schematic button to do it for you.
